Sophia Moermond Adv.Dip.TCM, Dip.App.Sc.Naturopathy

Sophia Moermond Acupuncturist in FremantleSophia has studied Acupuncture, Chinese Herbal Medicine and Tui Na Massage at the 'Perth Academy of Natural Therapies' where she graduated in 2002 with an Advanced Diploma of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Previously in 1998, Sophia also graduated with a Diploma of Applied Science in Naturopathy at the 'Perth Academy of Natural Therapies'. She further obtained certificates in Dorn Spinal Therapy, Bio-Mesotherapy and Homotoxicology. Sophia is a member of the Australian Traditional-Medicine Society (ATMS).

Early in her life, Sophia felt a deep interest and desire to help people, which at first motivated her to become a registered nurse. Soon however, she recognized what she was truly interested in was a more holistic approach to health and wellbeing that views a person as a whole being rather than an accumulation of signs and symptoms. This realization marked the beginning of a long journey of study, obtaining two degrees back to back, and providing her with an in-depth and multi-faceted understanding of health.

Sophia's clinical approach is versatile, both practical and intuitive, combining her wealth of knowledge to best achieve a positive outcome, as well as taking a person's mental/emotional/spiritual disposition into account. Although Sophia's emphasis at The Healing Point is on Traditional Chinese Medicine, which includes Acupuncture, Chinese Herbal Medicine, Gua Sha, Tui Na, Moxibustion and Cupping, she also includes her naturopathic knowledge of Clinical Nutrition & Supplementation in her treatment approach. One of Sophia's special interests is musculo-skeletal pain management for which she will often include Bio-Mesotherapy and Dorn Spinal Therapy in her treatment approach. She also offers Sho Ni Shin, a specialized oriental paediatric technique for infants and children.

Sophia likes to empower her clients through conveying an understanding about their state of dis-ease and giving practical dietary and lifestyle advice, and in so doing fostering an attitude of self-responsibilty and renewed trust into the body's intrinsic ability to return to a state of balance and good health.
