shibashi qigong

Tai Chi Qigong Shibashi is a form of Qigong which consists of 18 gentle and flowing movements. It was developed by Professor Lin Hou-Sheng in 1979. Professor Lin is a renowned Chinese Qigong Master, Master Healer, scientist and author of numerous books.

Tai Chi Qigong Shibashi extracts some of the best movements of Yang Style Tai Chi Chuan and combines it with traditional Qigong movements and synchronized abdominal breathing into a graceful, flowing Qigong routine that is deeply relaxing and a joy to perform. Its effortless flow is a result of deep relaxation cultivated on the inside. Unlike most forms of exercise that work on the larger muscle groups, Shibashi movements encourage the stretching and stimulation of the smaller muscles and ligaments, which, combined with deep, relaxed breathing, encourages tensions held deep within the body's tissues to soften and release.

Tai Chi Qigong Shibashi movements are very simple, easy to learn and memorise and are suitable for people of all ages, including the elderly. Performing the full set of Shibashi movements only takes 20 min which makes it easy to integrate into one's daily routine. For more in-depth practise it is recommended to perform the set twice in row.

Shibashi Qigong has quickly become one of the most popular forms of Qigong with over 10 million people practising worldwide. Because it is so widely practised some variations exist. This course follows the instruction of Master Wing Cheung, Tai Chi Division Champion of the 2005 Canada Kung Fu & Wushu Championship, who directly studied with Master Wu Jian Hiua, a colleague of Professor Lin Hou-Sheng at the Shanghai Qigong Research Institute in China.

"I have learned more than 30 different styles of Qigong. Tai Chi Qigong Shibashi is one of the most effective and easiest to learn. Most of my students are able to master it in just a few lessons. And many of them can feel the presence of 'Qi' travelling in their bodies after practicing for just 3 months." Master Wing Cheung

testimonials

"Learning and practicing Shibashi has been a deep and transformational experience for me. It has helped me to connect with my body and energy in a profound, yet simple way. I feel softer in my movements, with more of my core life force energy accessible throughout the day. After practicing Shibashi it is like my body is humming in a lovely deep silence. I value the grace and clarity Mandana brought to the teachings each week and the practical way the movements were introduced so I could practice them at home and slowly build up to the whole sequence which I now practice most days. Thankyou and look forward to more practice sessions ..." Rebecca B.

"I have been practicing Qigong for 5 years now. I had learned one style which was quite complex and practiced another one out of a book. I had the opportunity to learn Shibashi Qigong with Mandana in October. This style of Qigong is just wonderful - it has the most effortless, flowing feeling that makes me get up in the morning and want to do it. I always feel an increased level of energy after practicing and a certain harmony and well-being stays with me right through the day. There is a subtle, yet tangible difference on the days I don't practice.

Mandana's passion and expertise is present right through the course. Being a teacher myself, I know that it is the passion for the subject taught that allows the student to learn deeply. It's almost like a flame jumps from the teacher to the student. I experienced this with Mandana. She has clarity and is very eloquent in explaining the steps, pointing out the finer points that I still remember each time I practice. I highly recommend participating in this course and learning Shibashi to anyone who is interested in the cultivation of Qi, raising one's energy levels and balancing the energy in the body in the most harmonious and flowing way."
