| one-day qigong intensive
Qigong is the art and science of Chinese energy healing that has been developed by ancient masters and practiced in China for thousands of years for its effectiveness in increasing longevity, inner harmony, and both healing and preventing disease.
During this day you will gain understanding of and experience the foundational aspects of Qigong by exploring all 3 types of Qigong:
standing – moving – stillness
We will use movement, postures, breathing, self-massage, mental imagery and meditation to learn to accummulate, circulate and store univeral life force, called Qi.
Central to our moving practice will be the 8 Pieces of Brocade also know as Ba Duan Jin, a Qigong form consisting of 8 simple yet powerful exercises that combine movement with light stretches. The 8 Pieces of Brocade are said to be 1000 years old and is one of China's most popular and widely practised set of Qigong exercises. They are easy to learn and perform and suitable for anybody, young or old, healthy or unwell. A handout will be provided to assist you in your home practice.
This Qigong day is suitable and open for beginners. It is also designed to provide a space for deepening for those who have been coming to Qigong class or practice at home in their own time. The Whole is larger than the sum of its parts - come and join us in creating a energy field of healing and deepening self-exploration.
